Petition to Recognize a New Pharmacy Specialty
APhA, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) have jointly
submitted a petition to the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS)
requesting recognition of Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice as a
Specialty. Read

Immunization Champion Awards
 Nominate a colleague who has made extraordinary contributions
toward improved vaccination rates within his or her community. There are
five (5) categories of recognition including: individual practitioners,
corporations/institutions, partnerships with other health care providers
and public health, community outreach, and a special friend of
pharmacy's immunization efforts. This awards program is supported by
Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. The awards will be presented at the
APhA Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Nomination deadline is January 16,

Vitamins E and C fail to prevent cardiovascular disease in low-risk men - Long-term trial concludes that supplementation with vitamin E 400 IU every other day or vitamin C 500 mg daily had no effect on preventing major cardiovascular events in low-risk men.
