Developing Rural Electricity Distribution Franchise: training of trainers
Realizing the importance of training to develop a robust franchise system and build a capable cadre of trainers within the electricity distribution utilities, the Ministry of Power, Government of India has launched a ‘National Program on Franchisee Capacity Building’. TERI has been identified as the Lead Training Institution for imparting knowledge on the franchise system to the different utilities and develop a dedicated team of trainers.
CESE building, IIT Kanpur awarded five star GRIHA rating
The CESE (Centre for Environmental Sciences and Engineering) building at IIT Kanpur has been awarded five star GRIHA rating by TERI. The evaluation committee has awarded a final score of 93 out of 100 to the building. The building has incorporated many green features following the TERI-GRIHA recommendations.
Lighting a billion lives
A total of 1.6 billion people in the world lack access to electricity, and 25% of them live in India. TERI commits to brightening the lives of one billion people by replacing kerosene and paraffin lanterns with solar lighting devices, providing better illumination and a smoke-free indoor environment, and by providing livelihood opportunities both at the individual and village levels.
